The Chinese Government values the important role of the WHO, and is willing to make greater contribution to the health cause of the world.

Dr. Margaret Chan's professional competence has been widely acknowledged ever since she joined the WHO in 2003. Fully recognizing this, the Central Government of China has nominated Dr. Chan as the Chinese candidate for the post of Director-General of the WHO. We are convinced that she is fully competent for this job given her able leadership, great sense of responsibility, devotion to the health cause and excellent professional background. In addition, being a female also makes her a stronger candidate.

The Central Government of China will give its full support to Dr. Chan's candidature to the post of Director-General of the WHO.
