Assistant Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai Meets with China's Candidate for the Director-General of the World Health Organization Madame Margaret Chan

On September 17, 2006, Assistant Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai met with Madame Margaret Chan, China's candidate for the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), former Director of Health of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Assistant Director-General of the WHO, exchanging opinions on her election campaign.

Cui said that currently the preparations move ahead steadily and there are many countries speaking highly of the outstanding talent of Margaret Chan. The central government will continue extending full support for her candidacy and wish her victory in the election.

Chan noted that she will make persistent efforts for final success.
